While these medications provided some relief, they also left me feeling overmedicated, often leading to a host of undesirable side effects. This personal struggle sparked a journey of exploration and discovery, leading to the creation of PKJ Coaching—a holistic approach to ADHD management.
Growing up, I often felt trapped by the medications prescribed to me. These stimulants, while effective in some ways, also came with a litany of side effects that impacted my overall well-being. From sleep disturbances to reduced appetite and emotional blunting, the price of symptom relief seemed too high. I knew there had to be a better way—one that didn’t rely solely on pharmaceuticals.
Determined to find alternatives, I began researching various holistic methods to manage ADHD. My exploration led me to uncover a wealth of natural supplements and practices that could enhance and optimize both body and mind without the harsh side effects of stimulant medications.
My journey into holistic health started with supplements. I discovered the benefits of adaptogenic herbs like Ashwagandha, which helped reduce stress and improve focus. I also experimented with cold therapy, including cold plunging, sauna sessions, and cryotherapy. These practices were transformative, providing a natural way to boost mood, increase energy levels, and improve focus. The physiological benefits of exposing the body to cold temperatures, such as reduced inflammation and enhanced recovery, complemented my overall approach to managing ADHD.
Another pivotal discovery in my journey was understanding the profound connection between gut health and brain function.
